Segmented Objects embody the mystery of mobility in a single object.
It describes a single closed object, that is composed out of several movable parts. This is achieved by a sophisticated wood carving technique, which has been used in Central Europe as well as on the African continent for centuries.
The unique feature of the Segmented Objects is, that these individual segments are not combined, but are carved out of the full material. The material removal for the generation of the mobility has to be carried out very precisely and at exactly defined spots. A decisive factor in this process is a corresponding material selection in order to avoid undesired cracks which may break the segmented structure apart.
All of the segmented sculptures are exquisite masterpieces that do not involve glue or other attachments, which gives them the astonishing and unique appearance.
